Ompah

Description

This artisan cheese takes its name from a small eastern Ontario village located in the township of North Frontenac approximately 100 kilometres southwest of Ottawa. Ompah is a semi-firm, washed rind cheese, that is lovingly made from raw unpasteurized sheep’s milk by cheesemaker Jeff Fenwick using traditional old-world methods. After forming into six inch diameter wheels, this magnificent cheese is then aged from three to six months during which time its pungent, aromatic rind materializes.

On the inside Ompah has a meaty, smooth body, which is rich in flavour and pairs well with many light wines and beers.
